This page is dedicated to OUT OF SEASON opportunities for the AVHS TENNIS TEAMS.(OCTOBER 2009 to AUGUST 2010)

We will continue to use the website during the off-season so keep checking for playing opportunities.
Keep in mind the AVHS coaches may not coach players out of season, EXCEPT THE MONTHS OF JUNE AND JULY, because of the High School rules. A full array of lessons and USTA Junior Team Tennis will be offered by Susan and her group of AVHS tennis alum instructors during the summer at the Arena. They will be administered by the Valley Athletic Association.

TENNIS FITNESS PROGRAM IN AVHS WEIGHT ROOM We have arranged for a LifeTime Fitness trainer to organize a TENNIS fitness program during the six months the Arena is iced up. If we have 12 people the cost will be $133.

USTA JUNIOR TOURNAMENTS are held throughout the year. Join USTA and play in some tournaments - Go to USTA Membership website, Junior Memberships (18 and under) 1 yr. - $18; 3 yrs. - $48.
USTA website for details of local USTA tournaments.

GIRLS TOP GUN LEAGUE will begin in January 2010. This is a chance to play some matches during the winter in a singles league for those girls interested in playing for AVHS in the Fall of 2010. There will also be some mixed doubles events with the boy's top gun league. Stay tuned!

WINTER CO-ED JUNIOR TEAM TENNIS
There are one day events at the indoor clubs. We can field 18 and Under AVHS Teams. We do however need a parent volunteer as the coaches cannot do the organizing of these events.

INEXPENSIVE INDOOR PLAYING OPPORTUNTIES
Fred Wells only charges $10 a court hour for juniors. Link to the website

We feel there are 3 main areas we need to work on:
Fitness - Strength, Speed and Agility and Stamina.
Strokes - Changes to contintental grips on the serve, one handed backhand volleys, low volleys, half-volleys, groundstroke winners, etc.
Competition - Play some tournaments, have some fun.

Desire,Motivation and Attitude are the main indicators of reaching your potential at anything. Tennis is a great sport, offering many challenges and perhaps, even more rewards. We will help in any way we can to help you reach the tennis goals you set yourselves.
